Hostel


College Hostel
Hostel facilities for Men and Women students are available. There are four hostels for men students with an intake capacity of 282 seats and two hostels for women students with an intake capacity of 130 seats. Students enrolled in the college must reside with their parents or with local guardians or in college hostel.

Rules for Admission Into Hostels:
Application for admission into hostels should be made to the Principal in the prescribed form within the last date to be notified. Selection of candidates will be made by a duly constituted selection committee and the committee will specify the hostel in which the student will be allotted seat.

Seats/Rooms will be allotted by the hostel superintendent.

Readmission into the hostels cannot be claimed by virtue of previous stay.

Neither admission into hostels can be claimed as a matter of right nar a student can claim as a matter of right to stay in a particular hostel or a particular room or seat.

Selection of candidates for admission into hostel will be made according to merit besides taking into consideration the conduct of the students. Selection of candidates will be made soon after the admission of the students into the college is over.

All students belonging to SC/ST categories who apply for hostel accommodation will be given 1st preference (in H. & T.W. Hostels) and the cases of general students will be considered if seats remain vacant. However 10% of the seats in H. & T.W. Hostels are kept reserved for the students belonging to General categories.

The Principal is the Administrative head of the Hostel. The Principal will be assisted by the Superintendent in the matters of general administration of the Hostel. The internal management of the hostels rest with the Superintendents.

Fees to Be Paid By The Boarders:
A student selected for admission into the Hostel shall have to pay the following fees in the College Office first:

1. Admission Fee Rs.2/-
2. Coution Money (Nonrefundable) Rs.5/-
3. Medical Examination Fee Rs.6/-
4. Social Service Guild Rs.2/-
5. Seat Rent Rs.60/-
6. Improvement Fee Rs.30/-

Note: SC/ST students are exempted from payment of Admission Fee and Seat Rent.
The superintendent will collect the following fees from the boarders on production of the Money Receipt for admission into the Hostel issued by the college Office;

Electricity and Water charges billed by the respective departments will have to be fully met by the boarders. The differential amount, if any, will be collected from the boarders after the bill is received from the concerned department.

Code of Conduct And Discipline To Be Observed By The Boarders:
The boarder are required to take proper care of the furniture issued to them, the electrical fitting and other properties of Hostel. The boarders are required to pay the cost of the articles damaged by them individually or collectively (if individual responsibility cannot be fixed).

No boarder will be permitted to leave the Hostel without the prior permission of the Hostel Superintendent who will ascertain that all dues to the hostel have been paid before leaving.

The hostel will be closed during college summer vacation. Boarders wishing to remain the hostel during the vacation must obtain permission of the Superintendent.

Roll call will be taken twice daily, once at 8:00 A.M. and the second time at 7:00 P.M.

Daily routine hours for bathing, study and meals etc., will be fixed by the Superintendent. Boarders should not disturb others during study hours.

No boarder shall remain absent from the hostel after the evening roll call without the prior permission of the Superintendent. Absence after the evening roll call shall be treated as serious breach of discipline.

Any meeting called by the boarders requires prior permission of the Hostel Superintendent.

Possession of objectionable photographs, posters, reading materials etc., inside the Hostel will be regarded as gross breach of discipline.

The Superintendent is responsible for maintenance, order and discipline and has the power to punish the boarder for any breach of discipline all cases of gross misconduct must be reported to the Principal.

The following will be considered as breaches of discipline:
a) Absence from the Hostel without permission.
b) Continued neglect of study.
c) Want of cleanliness in the rooms.
d) Spitting about the rooms, verandah and courtyard.
e) Singing or playing on any musical instrument in the specified hours.
f) Frequent absence from the hostel in the evening hours.
g) Writing on or by any other way disfiguring the walls, doors and windows of the building.
h) Misconduct of any other description.

Boarders can be expelled from the Hostel on the report of the Superintendent for habitual or gross misconduct.

Absence on leave requires prior sanction of the superintendent.

The parent or natural guardian (in no case a recognized guardian) can meet the boarders with prior permission of the Superintendent.

Boarders are not allowed to entertain or bring outsiders or their friends to the Hostel.

At the time of admission into the Hostel boarders are required to mention the name and address of their parents or natural guardian who are likely to visit them in the Hostel.

Maintenance of The Hostel Accounts:
The superintendent is solely responsible for proper maintenance of cash, accounts, stock and stores etc., of the hostel. He will issue proper and authorized money receipts to the boarders while collecting dues from them.

The superintendent will operate one Savings Bank Account either in Post Office or State Bank of India, Koraput for making monetary transactions of the Hostel.
